As we prepare to joyously celebrate the 70th anniversary of Israel, we must remember that without the 23,545 soldiers and security forces who sacrificed their lives defending and protecting our land, we would not be privileged to celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut. We are obligated to perpetuate their memories. Olami, in partnership with The Afikim Foundation and Israel's Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, is initiating YIZKEREIM-HONOR ISRAEL’S FALLEN in order to meaningfully pay tribute to each one of these fallen heroes. A 3-fold initiative will facilitate this goal.

A sophisticated website, honorisraelsfallen.org, allows users to learn about each of the fallen and perform a positive action (chesed, prayer, learning, etc.) in their memory.  A virtual candle will be lit for every action performed.

 

Notification of the ‘moment of silence’ in Israel will be sent to all users, and will unify participants worldwide.

PACKAGED PROGRAM

In order to assist schools, congregations and groups in hosting meaningful Yom HaZikaron programs, Afikim will be gifting to each venue:

• An original 30-minute film

• 3 poignant 6’ high, self-standing vinyl banners

• Custom yahrzeit candles for every participant

• Participation poster

• An extensive online Resource Guide (readings, poems, songs, prayers, videos, skits, etc.) to aid in Yom HaZikaron Program planning. 

 

CULMINATING EVENT

A culminating Memorial Event on Yom HaZikaron will unify Jews worldwide in paying tribute to Israel’s fallen.
